Digital Imaging: Inspirational Bumper Stickers

Guidelines:

1. Practice drawing letter forms by hand. Copy those you find interesting.

2. Create a quote for your inspirational bumper sticker. These will be hung in school. You can:
  • find a quote (Wikiquote),
  • make up your own,
  • or choose from the list I have provided.
3. Decide what format you would like your sticker to have (circle, square or rectangle).

4. Sketch a design lightly with pencil. Think about:

  • How will the words fit together in order to FILL your space?
  • Is it interesting to look at?
  • Does the drawing style match the words?
  • Does your composition have contrast and impact?
  • Is it readable from far away?
5. You can also collage in computer-generated type. Use MS Word for now. You may only print one sheet per person. Remember, NO ONE is allowed by the printer, Ms. Vermeer will collect your print-outs for you.

6. Include pictures, patterns, doodles, and shapes to make it more interesting.

7. Once you are happy with your design, go over your pencil with black sharpie. Fill in areas.

8. Ms. Vermeer will photocopy your designs, then hang a display in school. You can also leave them in lockers, stick them in library books, put them on a car windshield, or give them to someone who needs some inspiration!
