7th Grade Digital Imaging: Create a Design that illustrates one of the Basic Principles of Graphic Design

DIRECTIONS:

1. Decide which Design Principle you would like to illustrate. Here are the Design Principles Explained. Choose either CONTRAST, BALANCE, WHITE SPACE, REPETITION, ALIGNMENT, or PROXIMITY.

2. Open Adobe Illustrator. Go to File > New. Leave the size 8.5 by 11.

3. Save your file right away to your personal folder in the "Julie Vermeer Classroom" folder

4. Using the text tool, swatches, patterns, shapes, and lines, create an illustration of you principle. For example "Repetition" may include a pattern that repeats all over the page. "Contrast" may have very fat, large type next to small skinny type. "Balance" may have everything lined up in the middle.

5. Make sure the principle you choose is typed into your design and spelled correctly! (You can look at the Word Wall if you need help)

6. When you are all finished, Ms. Vermeer can help you print your design. Remember these will be printed in Black and White only.
